Nordic Hope - About Us

Located in the far east of Canada, Nordic Hope is small kennel in Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and Labrador.   Currently the only registered, active Alaskan Malamute breeding program in the province, we hope to raise the profile of the Alaskan Malamute here on the island and continue the dream of our mentors who started the Nordic Hope breeding program in New Brunswick.  For Ariane and Richard’s story...Click here.

At Nordic Hope, following the vision of Ariane and Richard, we will continue to orient ourselves towards an Alaskan Malamute that is the most versatile possible. Our dogs are companions, work dogs, and are breed for Health, temperament, and to conform to the CKC breed standard.

Our vision for Nordic Hope is a small kennel with time to give each animal the attention, affection and exercise they not only deserve but also need to thrive and lead a meaningful life as part of our family.

We believe in fulfilling our dog’s ancestral purpose. As part of the working dog group, we actively participate in many activities.  At present, our dogs are learning the mushing basics and working towards their working pack dog (WPD) certification.  We are still new to breeding and there are many things we look forward to doing with our dogs including sledding, skijoring, and weight pulling.  Our dogs are companions first, working dogs second, but we are also active in the conformation ring and plan to hit the obedience ring in the Spring.

We are members in good standing of the...
