Yes that’s right, Dog of Philosophy. She is the brains of our pack. Most dog trainers will tell you that dogs can not reason. Malamute owners beg to differ. Kanata displays incredible intelligence and independence, the blend of the two can be very challenging – particularly in the show ring, where, when she feels like it, she can look like a champ or a chump on any given day.
As a puppy, her face markings distinctly took the form of a maple leaf on her forehead, so we named her “Kanata” which means little village and is the Algonquin origin of our Countries namesake, Canada. Her purpose in life is to play, and well eat – as for every malamute.
Kanata is also a tank. Built to pull, above all, she represents the breed standard in that she demonstrates great capacity as a freighting dog. As a plus, she is a handy little puppy with her nose in the middle of every job from sweeping to household fix-ups. You can see her inquisitive little eyes trying to understanding your every move. Just keep her away from anything involving woodwork as she was born to chew.
Kanata, referred to frequently as “puddin’ pops” is affectionate in her own way, dawning the classic “smiling” malamute expression. Her build, expression, and fluid movement do her well in the ring, where, in time, we hope to win her a championship title
